It has been 15 years since Turkey aggressively started pushing Indian travel market for visitors coming to Turkey. The consistent efforts helped them to be identified as the most preferred destinations for the Indians now. In the year 2018, Turkey hosted approximately 150,000 Indian tourists and now the target is to achieve 1 million Indian travellers coming to Turkey on annual basis.
 

The overall stats of Turkey shows that it receives 40 million tourists from all around the world last year out of which Istanbul received approximately 12 million visitors and Antalya 13 million visitors respectively. The distribution of stats clearly indicates that when it comes to travel Turkey, global travellers are looking beyond Istanbul.

When it comes to Indian, Antalya is not explored as much as Istanbul is. Istanbul remains the first destination for Indians. This is despite the fact that hotels in Antalya are far more reasonable then Istanbul and they offer one time all inclusive packages wherein food and drinks are inclusive during the stay.

Turkish Airline recently collaborated with IndiGo to reach out the travellers and improvement in infrastructure. This enabled direct flights to Turkey from 20, March 2019. The direct flight currently is available from Delhi however, Turkish Airline is planning to add more origin cities to the list.
 

Turkey Tourism recently released a list of 12 countries as the focus list to improvise tourism / inbound travellers, India is placed in the list along with Russia and Germany.
