This is the best time for the off-beat destinations to start focussing their marketing efforts in India

Travel trends in India is the focus of the decade - reason? Well! The travellers in India are surprising and surpassing the expectations and prediction of tourism boards and travel gurus respectively. The shift seems to be expanding in all directions. This is the best time for the off-beat destinations to start focussing their marketing efforts in India. Indian travellers are going for off beat destinations even if they have not travelled much. Being in industry no one would be surprised, if I state the fact, the young travellers of India are travelling for social status and not for the drive to explore. According to the documented study, as vast as 75 percent of those polled, picked up the reason to travel is for social status.

The study which is published in leading daily publisher - Economic Times, also highlighted the fact that 75 percent of Indian traveller prefer to go to the locations where their friends have not been to.

As we usher into the era of new age traveller, we should celebrate the growing economy to its glory. Further more choices and preferences are not bound by borders, ethnicities or societal norms anymore. Social media is flooded with Indian travellers sharing moments of various spheres of their journeys - from a tour to India's Northeast to discovering the less known town of Thun in Switzerland and a thrilling road trip in otherworldly Iceland. As the cherry on the cake - couples are travelling for wellness and spas across the South East Asia picking up the best curated itineraries along with best spa treatments and therapies. And why not? As the couple that travels together stays together.

However, as forecasted, for me looking at Indian millennial traveller landing onto Iceland to see Northern Lights or putting up pictures in Europe that goes compulsively hand-in-hand, art looking couples posting honeymoon pictures of Florence in Italy or diving into the freezing waters at various locations in North America or Norway truly indicates that travellers are catching the zest of experiencing the "IT" places of the globe. If you are specifically looking for couples sharing pictures at off beat locations, then they are definitely in Japan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Namibia.

Every journey has a special story to tell and for Indian travellers the story is to go on and on, to take the pick no matter how off beat it is. Where is your next one to?
